Full Service Design

Our signature service, we work on your full home remodel or residential new build from concept through completion. Our truly turn key experience enables you to enjoy the process and allow your time and energy to remain focused on your family, careers, and passions. We handle every detail including space planning, material and finish selections, lighting plans, builder specifications, ordering and fulfillment, project management, and final installation and styling.

Ideal for clients seeking the Vault aesthetic combined with an authentic telling of their story, we design a bespoke look that will beautifully evolve and grow with you over time, representing both who you are now and who you aspire to be. Our process is for those who are willing to take some risks, who are seeking to be gently pushed or challenged to consider design directions you may never have previously imagined or considered. The final result is one that is timeless, authentic to the client, and completely distinctive, inspiring others rather than merely a copy of the latest design trends.

Design Consultation

Perhaps the most effective way to explore the designer-client fit before embarking on a large scale, full service project. Our design consultations provide the opportunity to ask questions, seek advice, get to know our process, and share your own ideas, inspiration, and expectations. Design consultations are available virtually or in-person, if local to Madison, Wisconsin, at $200 per hour.

Meet Carrie Simpson, Owner and Principal Designer.

No one believes in the transformative power of a well-designed home more than Carrie. The place where she feels empowered to express herself most boldly, clearly, and fearlessly, Carrie's home supports and nurtures her creativity and expression. Inspired to share this experience with others and to help clients realize their full potential, she started Vault in 2013. Since then, she has been creating environments that both inspire the inhabitants to be their best selves while grounding them, providing a sense of comfort and ease.

A native of Middleton, Wisconsin, Carrie earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before pursuing her training and career in interior design. Her multi-disciplinary background provides her with an understanding of how to design spaces that effortlessly evolve over time alongside the families who live in them.

Carrie excels at finding and celebrating the nuances, quirks, and peculiarities within a space – the items or architectural details that ignite curiosity and inspire conversation, making a home completely unique to the client and their story.

All projects begin with exploration and information gathering. After receiving your completed online inquiry form, we will reach out to schedule an initial design consultation, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions, we can go into further depth about our process, and both parties can mutually determine if we're a good fit.

We follow up the consultation with an on-site meeting where we tour the property in the case of new builds, or the existing home in the case of remodels. This allows us to take photos and gather measurements while simultaneously learning more about your vision and lifestyle.

With all of the information gathered during Phase I, we begin sketching and sourcing, exploring the ways to bring your vision to life and enable your home to reach its full potential. During this phase, we put together a complete design proposal for you to review. This includes floor plans, furniture layout and selections, hard and soft finishes, color palettes, window treatments, area rugs, accessories, lighting, and artwork. No detail goes overlooked, as we incorporate a mix of one-of-a-kind vintage finds, bespoke pieces, family heirlooms or cherished objects, and exclusive trade items.

The final phase is implementation. After all designs are approved, we procure bids from our trusted network of contractors, builders, and trades people while simultaneously ordering all materials and supplies. With your team in place, we project manage the execution, receiving items, predicting challenges, communicating clearly, and ensuring everything remains on time and on budget. Finally, we install and style the space, so you immediately feel welcomed and at home.

Upon completion of the project, we present you with a binder inclusive of all project specs: paint colors, textiles, wallpaper swatches, trade contacts, etc. – a handy resource for future additions and repairs.
